Heavy Thoughts on Birth

by Dez Weyburnupdated on May 23, 2023May 23, 2023Leave a Comment on Heavy Thoughts on Birth

I attend births at any gestation. If my clients ask for me, I come. Many of the births I have supported have been bereavement births, and they are always so special.

  • Happy #HomeBirthDay! Here's your reminder than babies can be born anywhere! 💙💜💙💜
  • Bucket list item I get to cross off now. I got to meet @genakirby and finally learn rebozo skills from her. I have been wanting to take her training since 2015 and I'm so glad I was finally able to. Thank you Gena!!
  • I often challenge my clients to not use the hospital bed *as a bed* until or unless they need to. There are so many other places to labor, even in the hospital. Where did you labor?
Image description- Blue background and an illustration of someone pregnant sitting clothed and backwards on a toilet. Text in bright pink to the right says: Out of bed labor options. Beneath this text is a checklist with marks next to the words birth ball, tub/shower, birth stool, and toilet (aka the dilation station). At the bottom of the image in small text reads: @Doula.Dez and Illustration by @TheEducatedBirth
  • Happy mother's day!

  • I had such a great time at #DavisCountyPride2023 last weekend! I helped run the booth for @northernutahdoula with @BountifulDoulas to show the community in Northern Utah that there are birth workers that support diverse families! I had the wonderful opportunity to be on the planning committee for @Davisprideut for the second year and was blown away by the volunteers, speakers, performers, and our incredible community coming together. I can't wait for #DavisCountyPride2024!
Davis County Pride is still fundraising for future events and to become a nonprofit. The link for fundraising can be found in my bio on Instagram or through my website.

  • Shoutout to Alta View Hospital for their incredible team! This birth and these clients were amazing!!
  • Ben is sure happy today! #BeUtahFul #BenLomandPeak
  • It is World Doula Week, and I want to shout out the amazing doulas I work with, along with giving some suggestions on how our clients can celebrate us and thank us. A kind word (or Google review) can really make our day!
For any of my past clients who would like to say thank you, please check out the link in my bio for places to leave a review. I'm so so honored that you let me be a part of your birth team!

Beneath is a list of three suggestions: "Recommend your doula to friends and family" with a thumbs up next to it, "Leave positive reviews in Google and social media" with a graphic of 5 stars next to it, and "Gift cards and food are always helpful and appreciated" with a graphic of a gift card next to it.
